Dependence Day

PAUL: I need help, Raj.

RAJ: I understand, Paul. It is not easy to just abide in the experience of need and Listen. Your conditioning is extensive, calling for “taking the bull by the horns” and resolving the situation by force—without Guidance. And guilt demands that the action be at your own hand, by your own authority, in order to restore your dignity, respectability and credibility. In other words, it is all about righteousness!

Right now, you are immobilized because you think you are going to have to expose your helplessness, without recognizing that every word that has ever come out of your mouth which has given voice to the Voice for Truth has always exposed it. And yet your helplessness, embraced, has always given rise to the expression of exceptional Meaning, and it has never demeaned you in any way . . . not even in your imagination.

You see, “need” does not mean “inadequacy.” Rather, it is the attraction of that which meets it. Need is that which anchors its own fulfillment in the now, and should be recognized as the announcement of its imminence, causing wonder and joy instead of distress. Because needs are related to something missing, which it is your Birthright to be experiencing, they provide direction for your attention (which is the meaning of Prayer). It is called curiosity.

Curiosity, unbiased by expectations, is the impulse to pay attention, and the impulse is what you feel as “need.” Wants, on the other hand, do not involve curiosity because you already know what you’re trying to create, and the impulse that grounds you in an actual shift of perception (a miracle) is absent.

It is very important to be clear, here, because of the difference between “needs” and “wants.” To abide with a “want,” to feel a “want,” is nothing but an attempt to control, an imaginary assertion of authority that mimics Creation, but makes you the “creator.” In addition, wants do not anchor some part of Creation in the now, announcing the imminence of Its being uncovered to you. They are, in fact, the opposite of helplessness, the absence of humility, and a decisive preoccupation with that which does not give voice to the Voice for Truth.

PAUL: Okay. The need is still present. Things are still at a standstill, as they were last night. We need a further request, and I need you to provide the words and the perspective to proceed.

RAJ: Paul, I know there is the suggestion that because we haven’t had a meeting there is no reasonable justification for requesting help. But the simple truth is that there is a need—not a manufactured one—and if the need isn’t shared, it will be because of a false pride, a private arrogance, a secret superiority . . . or at least a claim to them that you must abandon, if you have any common sense.

You see, there are those who’s love isn’t measured out on the basis of whether its deserved. They see the need, feel it, and love without evaluation. Your silence deprives them of the opportunity to be the presence of the Christ, just as it deprives you of discovering that you do not have to “deserve” Love and therefore cannot be guilty of anything which would justify Its being withheld from you.

When you put the need into words, it is not that you are proclaiming lack, but rather expressing invitation to That which meets the need—fulfillment—by turning your attention toward it. And, your sharing it gives others the meaningful opportunity to join in, too. But those who see acknowledgment of worth and expression of appreciation as commodities to be earned, will not hear it as a sharing of need, but as a “submission of an application” to be considered worthy of them. You see?

It might sound like I am instructing you to know your “audience” like a politician, so that you can devote yourself to influencing them and forget about the rest. But I’m not. I’m saying, don’t see the sharing as a means of influencing at all! Those who care, those whose Love is not calculated, won’t need anything other than your humble expression of need—which won’t be a complaint, but an expression of desire for what is valuable.

Understand also that there are those who see—as you have been conditioned to see—that need is evidence of something you are doing wrong, and that they will measure out their love, depriving you of experiencing the Fact that regardless of their conditioned thought processes, which have nothing to do with you, you are loved because you are your Father’s Son. Period! Beginning and end of story.

Keep your feet on the ground. Practicality and spirituality are not mutually exclusive terms.

RAJ: Good afternoon, Paul. Happy Dependence Day! Thank you for being willing to sit at the edge, in the Void, and deciding not to write your best judgment upon this day. Here is the invitation.

Dependence Day

———oOo———

Dear friends,

Today is in all respects Dependence Day. The Foundation has no available funds and all credit cards used for Foundation transactions are at the limit. Paul and Susan, who have recently contributed personal funds to help with Foundation expenses and have no savings, are similarly immobilized.

When one cannot buy gas to go to the post office, bank and grocery store, and there is nothing with which to pay for groceries—to say nothing of ordinary operating expenses—there is a very fundamental state of need. An undeniable and immediate call for relief.

And so, I am bringing this to everyone’s attention, with the reminder that two people sit at the intersection of the gifting from me and the gifting from you—two people who have made commitment to be the guarantors of responsible financial behavior when these activities interface with the world . . . Susan and Paul.

In addition, I need to say that our activities are Brotherhood expressed, not business, and we will not abandon Brotherhood for the imagined security of transactions which “cover the cost and provide profit as well.”

Brotherhood is what gets us Home.

Because of the immediacy of the need, I will point out that contributions made through PayPal are able to be instantly transferred into the Foundation’s bank account and I would invite you to give preference to that choice.

Also, to those who responded to the invitation extended on the 2nd, thank you for your support. When the need is great, every bit of support is even more meaningful and relieving.

Today the need is for gas, food, and $3,400 for operating expenses.

Thank you again to everyone. I love you all.
