The Need Behind the Need

The Need Behind the Need

————-oOo————-

Dear friends,

I must begin first of all by acknowledging and expressing gratitude for the support and contributions which are continuously received and make everything we do possible. Our gratitude is ongoing, and we thank you very much.

Second of all, the balance in the Foundation’s bank account has fallen below $200, and we have entered a new month without having met last month’s expenses. As a result there is currently an immediate need of $4,000 that includes Internet expenses, telephone, electricity and utilities which are unpaid from the month of July, and a paycheck for Paul along with first-of-the-month bills for August. Everyone’s help is invited.

And third: There is something which we all need to consider together in a larger context than the low balance in the Foundation’s bank account. It is the need behind that need. It is the need which Paul and Susan are confronted with each day . . . to experience peace in the face of an ongoing shortage of funds to cover the Foundation’s expenses (which it is their responsibility to oversee), as well as the difficulty of meeting their own needs in the absence of four months of Paul’s paychecks, which amounts to being unemployed for a third of a year without the option of unemployment benefits or food stamps. And yet, the Gift continues to be given, and all that has been given continues to be available.

The continuity of the Gift, and Paul’s listening to me right now and sharing with you — in spite of the “circumstances” — is Love, extending and inviting Love. And Love does not meet the need by saying “it isn’t real.” It meets the need by meeting the need!

It does not benefit anyone for Paul, who is giving voice to the Voice for Truth, to be told by many who are benefiting from all that we are sharing that the shortage of funds is due to something Paul needs to learn about abundance, while doing nothing to resolve the shortage.

If your sister is hungry, you naturally feed her food, not platitudes. If your brother is without a shirt, you give him the shirt off your back. You don’t tell him that “he is not a body and is therefore free to be as God created him,” leaving him shirtless. If he is homeless, you take him in or find a way to provide him with shelter. You don’t tell him that he has brought it on himself by his thoughts or attitudes, and leave him out in the cold.  No!  You bring him in. Feed him. Clothe him, and educate him! You give something of yourself — time, energy, caring, the gift of Soul, Involvement — and inspire him with the better thoughts and attitudes he needs through the example of practical caring. You express Brotherhood.

This is what union with the Christ mind is all about. It is what we are engaged in. It is not a business, nor is our sharing with everyone a “product” to be marketed. It is, first and last, Brotherhood in action — practical caring, real and present on earth, as it is in Heaven, right now! And it is an ongoing unequivocal invitation to shift from “profit and loss” to brotherly love as the bottom line of everything!

There are many things we intend to do which “coping with lack” is interfering with, and there is no shortage of willingness to do so. We look forward to more extension on the blog, better access to TGP so that new people can join in, resuming regular weekly ACIM Study Groups online, and providing materials which are currently unavailable. But it takes all of us caring enough to participate, act, and be involved — not just Paul and Susan and Chris.

It is being difficult for Paul to be willing to listen to what I am saying, and he is reluctant to post it because I am talking about him. But I am demonstrating something absolutely consistent with what A Course in Miracles teaches.

“Look into your brother’s eyes
and remember God.”

“Listen, learn, and do.”

What this means is, get out of your head and into your heart and bear witness to your brother. Be willing to see his need, and then address it from the remembrance of “God in him” which has been awakened in you. This will reveal something very important: that special relationships are practices of manipulation between those who are not actually involved, and who are distanced from each other by defense. It will also reveal that looking into your brother’s eyes to find God there, establishes a holy relationship in which the bottom line is brotherly love and in which active caring naturally replaces the insulated privacy of independence in which profit and loss in one form or another is always the bottom line — the currency of defense.

It matters that there is a need, a shortage which interferes with the flow. And it matters that there is a need for Paul and Susan to experience their peace. And it is not true that they should be able to experience it without correction of the shortage. Nor should such a thought even cross anyone’s mind! That is not what A Course in Miracles is all about.

There is a call for correction. Caring will reveal the way to correct it, and caring will act on it!

The need behind the need
is always a Brother or a Sister,
just like you,
deserving to be
truly recognized
and treated
accordingly.

My post was a bit over the top, so I apologize. Unfortunately, I cannot erase or edit it.

Ok, listen folks. It is time to put your money where your mouth is. No one is talking about making Paul a millionaire, living the life of luxury. Just the basics to run a foundation which is greatly helping build the foundation for Heaven on earth! Not worth supporting, I guess. I can tell you I am well cared for and so I give generously, but I’m on social assistance. What is your excuse? This material is given free! But there is a cost: Paul and his family need to be supported as they have given their lives to this important work we are all joining in! Or are we? If you realized what is being built here, you who can lend support but choose not to would jump at the chance to help build Heaven on earth! What could be more important? Sorry if I’m going on, but enough is enough!

Raj said it before, if all of us who are benefitting from Raj’s teachings donated $10 a month, all the foundations bills would be paid.

Also, when we blame others for their lack or their illness, we are projecting our own feelings of lack and illness on them and the world.

If we love ourselves and see our own worthiness, innocence and beauty, then we extend this love to everyone and life becomes heaven on earth.

I think Raj has said it before, if everyone who benefits from Raj’s teachings donated $10 a month, all bills would be paid.

As far as blaming another for lack of their abundance, our business is dealing with our own feeling of lack which we project onto another. Whatever we perceive in another is always our own projection of how we perceive ourselves. If we see lack and illness in another, it is because we perceive lack and illness in ourselves.

I see the answer being to love myself and see my own worthiness and beauty, then I will see it in others and the world will look like heaven on earth.
