A Word to the Wise

A Word to the Wise

Not just a word to the wise, but a word to the Wisdom in each of you, because It is there. Sometimes you don’t pay any attention to It, but It accompanies you as an inseparable part of your awareness. It is your Sanity, abiding in your peace, and in some ways feels like nothing more than your common sense. This is because Wisdom is so natural to you. It is, after all, the Father’s perspective, present in everything He creates. But let me be clear here: It is different from the sense you have in common with everyone else—the mutual agreements—and is the sense you have in common with God because you are His expression, embodying all that He is.

So, this divinely common sense which you share with God, this Wisdom which is the Truth you know in the silence of the holy instant, is shared with all of the Brotherhood, but not in the form of mutual agreements. It is shared because it is Birthright.

Often you refrain from sharing your Birthright, sharing Wisdom, simply because it is not a mutual agreement— or shall I say, because doing so violates mutual agreements, together with the independent (imagined) sense of self which makes them up.

Why am I bringing this up? Because I recently shared a word to the wise—a word to the Wisdom in each of you—entitled, “You Are Going to Need to Choose Well,” and the word to the wise was not sufficient.

There were some who, employing pre-existing agreements (imaginings) about the Christ, determined that I would not have said that; that I would have no interest or preference in the outcome of an election; and that ultimately what I was saying was, “Do not pay any attention to what I’m saying or to A Course in Miracles, but rely exclusively upon your own Guidance.”

This is foolish, and not the response of the Wisdom in you. The Course teaches that there are only two teachers—the Voice for Truth, and the voice for fear, and I have repeatedly shared that each one of us is the puppet of one of those two teachers. There is no independent state where the strings have been cut. There is no such thing as “one’s own Guidance.” There is only the Guidance which you put yourself under the jurisdiction of, and say “Thy will be done!”

Obviously one engages in this yielding of authority very carefully, with sober intent, and never carelessly discards what is heard just because it doesn’t make sense or “feel right.” Too often that means it is not in agreement with what one already believes, and further clarification, which is likely to change one’s mind, must be pursued.

You know, it is a fact that the Father is of too pure eyes to see evil, but it is also the fact that it is my Function, and that of the Holy Spirit, to recognize the discrepancy between what you believe and what the reality is, so that the unreal can be separated from the real and no longer bind you.

Anything, any belief, any protocols, any illusions which distort the experience of the Kingdom of Heaven and cause suffering, we will most certainly point out to you so that you may look again with eyes innocent of preconceptions. This includes elections, grocery shopping, coping with illness, listening for what road to take on a journey. We are here to help you look at any object in your experience and see the more of what God is being right there than what you are presently seeing. Why? So that you can come back into your right mind.

Our Function is always absolutely relevant to where you are, because where you are is the Kingdom of Heaven seen clearly or through a glass darkly. There is nothing else to become enlightened about. So, don’t be surprised!

Let’s be clear about something else, as well. Don’t think for a moment that you can find any two aspects of Creation Which could have more of an attachment to outcomes than myself and the Holy Spirit. We have one Function, and it is to facilitate restoring you to your right mind—each and every one of you.

We have an unalterable attachment to the outcome of your becoming free of the illegitimate impositions of sin, sickness and death. It is our task to help you the moment the desire arises in you to become free of suffering and you reach beyond whatever capacity you thought you personally privately had, and ask for help. There is nothing passive or remote about us, whatsoever. It is called Brotherhood. And it is through our loving you that you learn how to love one another.

Everyone must understand that the feelings of distress experienced after the election are arising out of the fundamental decency and holiness inherent in each of you. It is an objection not arising out of fear, but out of the ability to discern between truth and illusion and the necessity of making a choice between the two.

Knowing the Truth brings with It the energy (motivation) and the need to express an unequivocal “NO.” It is easy to confuse this with the ego’s attempt to be authoritative and controlling, when it is no such thing. The “do” part of “Listen, learn and do,” does not arise out of thoughts floating around in your mind: “Oh, I need to do this.” “Oh, I need to do that.” No. It comes with feeling—the energy of your Being.

The Presence of Who you are presents Itself with integrity, which means with the Authority of God. This does not mean that you become God. It means that in the absence of a claim to any other selfhood, the presence of God in you is free to express Itself as you because you have been willing to transfer authority with the intent of the words, “Thy will be done.”

God’s will is, for lack of better words, experienced as “passion”—but not as any form of human will. It is a love for what is true, what is real. It is a rejoicing in what is true and what is real. It is to be aware of the omnipotence present in the creation of what is true and real. It is an experience of their profound meaning.

In other words it is a conscious embrace of what already is real and true, and not a means of making something real and true. That is the meaning of passion. That is the meaning of the “power” of the feelings which are arising out of the ability to distinguish between what is real and what is not, and accounts for what is being defined as distress with the results of the election. It is not distress! It is the experience of knowing the Truth. Everyone needs to understand this in order to release distrust in what he is feeling. It is not a loss of peace, but a recognition as to where peace lies, so that the choice for it can be made with passion—from the depths of your Soul.

I know, there are those who say your “distress” is resistance to an incredible breakthrough, a “coup” of sorts, which occurred without bloodshed, and that you are simply going through the five steps of grief before you accept the facts and to get in the flow of a wonderful new paradigm. But this is not what is going on!

Now, I said above, “Everyone needs to understand this in order to release distrust in what he is feeling.” But this necessarily means that those who are rejoicing in the results of the election, those who wished for and chose what they got, will necessarily have to look again, and ultimately abandon their trust in that. And this will only happen if everyone is willing to look again very carefully.

Equity, balance, equality, freedom for all, fulfillment for all, does indeed need to replace the severe inequity, imbalance, inequality, and impaired freedom for all which actually faces the majority of the electorate . . . the people . . . or, in real terms, our brothers and sisters. There is no question about it.

But,—and this is the crux—one cannot afford to abandon whatever remnants of moral values still remain intact in order to make a contract with a purveyor of fear, hate, deceit, dishonesty, abuse, racism—you know the list—whose arrogance and self-confidence are so intense that his lack of morality appears to be an incredible freedom to work outside the system, and to do it so effectively that the actual needs will, indeed, be able to be addressed and resolved at last!

Do not be sidetracked from this single point! It is the crux! Look at it squarely with me. In the mutual decision to get a divorce from the Father—to be an independent agent—you seemed to create for yourselves an infinite freedom to do anything God hadn’t done, and to change what He had, to suit your now-unfettered purposes. It as called the Fall. It instantaneously and necessarily “created” an illusion—a distorted context of conscious being having two new inseparable foundations: Fear and Guilt. And in this context, Creation was no longer seen in the divine context of innocence and Love, but of the opportunity/demand to employ the new independent infinite freedom to overcome the fear and be so obviously intelligent in the process as to demonstrate a worth which would prove the guilt invalid.

What went unnoticed was that the only “energy” (motivation) available with which to accomplish this was the very fear and guilt from which freedom was now wanted, and it found and continues to find expression through fear, hate, deceit, dishonesty, abuse, racism, arrogance, personal self-confidence and more—whatever it takes to manipulate others in order to become better and, finally, best . . . only to be ultimately bested . . . starting the cycle all over again.

The act of manipulation, the initiation of it, is will—self-will. And, as everyone has seen, self-will blown up to the extreme, self-will turned up full volume and pretending to be the ally of the downtrodden with promises of relief from fear and guilt, while using fear and guilt to awaken their faith in and allegiance to his “power,” has indeed appeared to work and will succeed if the holiness in each one of us fails to recognize that fear and guilt cannot be the means of release from fear and guilt, and that the artful use of it for the establishment of a deal, a contract of commitment with you and everyone on your globe, is an invitation to give up your integrity. It is the Siren’s Song which would mislead you because it cannot deliver what it promises. No matter how “powerful” the employment of fear and guilt is, no matter how loudly it is shouted, no matter how many bow and prostrate themselves to it right in front of you and claim you are a fool for not seeing the “promise” it holds, its promise is empty, empty, empty empty, empty, empty . . . empty . . . and CANNOT BE FULFILLED!

You cannot afford to justify or argue the words sung by the Siren. You cannot afford to be swayed by the melody. You cannot be moved by how clearly you can hear it. If you do, you will be lost. You will have been “bested” and will have contributed to the illusion that the Siren is now the best—which was the Siren’s goal. You must understand that the Siren has no one’s well being in mind except its own, and that its promises are always at everyone else’s expense.

How do you know when you’re hearing a Siren? There is no love in its overtures, its temptations, and it will appeal to your worth as though you do not have it and will promise it to you on a silver platter if you will let it be in charge.

No one can give you a worth you do not already have. The Siren takes advantage of temporary self-doubt and low confidence and magnifies the frustration of not currently feeling your worth. It says it wants to help you by doing something for you that no one can do for you and doesn’t need to be done for you. Why? Not to magnify you, but to magnify itself, leaving you worse than before the empty promise was artfully extended and accepted.

Again: Everyone has only two choices as to what you will let take over for you. One is the Siren of independence—the ego—and the other is your Source. God. And God’s Power comes not as loud, raucous, miserable, mean-spirited bellows of obnoxiousness “in the name of your good,” but as the still, small voice in the center of you, which gently reminds you of your holiness, and does it by loving you and opening your eyes, revealing that no one could ever have given you what you never really lost.

The Siren is “a liar, and the father of the lie,” proudly unbound by the protocols of Love. Learn to distinguish between it and the Voice for Truth. There is not one impulse, thought, impression or sensation from the Siren which is true, and curiosity about any of them will seduce you completely and require you to wrench yourself away from the lack of love which is the Siren’s only reward to you for your allegiance.

So, what do you do? Move to Canada. Sulk in the apparent perversion of your country’s identity? Give up and die? And if you’re one of the Siren’s seduced, do you refurbish your frustration with the system and live with a constant grudge coloring every aspect of your life because you’ve disengaged from the one chance of hope that you had grabbed onto? No!

You realize that the issues still need to be resolved. You realize that the President-elect cannot be your voice. Only your voice can be your voice. And then start using it. Use it to give voice to the Voice for Truth. Use it to speak of and reflect your integrity and the integrity of your fellow man, and then participate in your democracy! Learn to speak in unison. Learn to object out loud—not loudly, but with clarity about what you want. Clearly express what you don’t want, what you will not embrace, and then clearly express what you do want and will embrace. The statement is, “Without a vision, the people perish.” But it must go a step further: “Without a vision expressed, the people perish and go to their graves carrying with them unshared Wisdom, inspiration, clarity, practicality which would have promoted heaven on earth.”

This has been a wakeup call—not just for Americans, but for everyone on your globe. Humanity and the meeting of humanity’s needs, the lifting ef everyone’s self awareness into one of its holiness, the expression of valuing each one’s life and presence, must take precedence over business, and business must be reconceived to serve humanity, which means that humanity must once again discover its capacity to love and passionately give expression to it.

Again: You do not have to shout anything. You do not have to coerce anyone. You simply need to feel the Truth from the tips of your toes—from your Soul. This undiluted clarity, uncontaminated by imagination or defense is, itself, omnipotence, invulnerability, providing no Velcro loops for the hooks of seduction to grab onto.

I will be very clear here, because it is the only thing which will permit correction.

Those who are “suffering” from the results of the election in the United States need to recognize that it is Wisdom welling up from the depths of Truth in them in a resounding “NO,” an unequivocal objection, which needs to be honored and given expression. The “expression” part of it is the essence of democracy. One cannot say, “Democracy has been served. You have a new President. Now, get on with your life.” Democracy is not a “thing” served. It is the living current expression of the meaning of “We the People” as the people express meaning. The election may be over, but democracy isn’t. You may not know what expressed objection to and withdrawal of support from a newly-elected President may cause, but you may know that it will absolutely inhibit the railroading of your country into something it is not.

Those who would suffer if the election were overturned need to recognize that although you have a right to your point of view, the expression of objection to that point of view is legitimate and essential. Democracy is of the people, by the people, and for the people. And there is profound objection. It calls for everyone on “both sides” of an artificial divide to reconnect with themselves, cancel the “deal with the Siren” and let democracy do and be something it’s never been or done before—the undoing of a faulty election!

  1. Thank you Anne Elizabeth and Kirk Nolan. No matter who you voted for there was so much mud-slinging in the media, which also seems to be untrustworthy. Now we need what we always needed but the one good thing about this is, events have forced almost everyone to see this more clearly. We need and want the Peace of God, above all else! We have books and a Teacher who is showing us the way, and the Holy Spirit. Thank you all, and thank you Raj.

  2. Clarisse Zielke says:

Thank you, Raj. You bring practical clarity to this whole debate. We certainly need your Guidence, since we have trouble paying attention to Truth on our own.

  3. Dave says:

Our Presidential election most always goes to the most charismatic, driven individual who connects the strongest with his supporters. Trump’s election is the result of the current state of consciousness among many Americans reacting to the rapid social changes in the country. Trump saw that, and, for better or worse, exploited the many fears people have. Like it or not, it was the most focused message in this campaign. A case in point… there are now more Hispanics in California than whites. This scares people. Trump’s election seems to be a backlash against the new cultural shifts in much of America; and those in government who have allowed this to happen by not cracking down on illegal immigration. Other issues dealing with the LGBT community, and religious freedom are being called into question as well. Is it religious freedom to deny people services simply because of their gender orientation? Where does the Golden Rule take us as a society? Are we going to become more judgmental, or are we going to become more compassionate? And are we going to deny people entry into our nation simply because they are Muslim? These are questions that will come to the fore due to the current political climate. We can; and should, be energized to become lights unto the world; as the Lord instructed. In doing so, we can counter the forces of anger and fear which led to last week’s election results. Not by holding our heads, and screaming against racism and bigotry, but by simply standing up for what’s right about America. We are an inclusive nation made up of immigrants. That is what made us great in the first place. May we ALL shine our lights into the darkness so that people far and wide can see that we are still an open society. One that welcomes people who want to pursue their dreams of a better life for themselves and their families. Peace to all of you!

  4. Robin Migalla says:

JUNE 28, 1787: A speech by Benjamin Franklin:

“Mr. President: The small progress we have made after 4 or five weeks close attendance & continual reasonings with each other—our different sentiments on almost every question, several of the last producing as many noes as ays, is methinks a melancholy proof of the imperfection of the Human Understanding. We indeed seem to feel our own want of political wisdom, since we have been running about in search of it. We have gone back to ancient history for models of Government, and examined the different forms of those Republics which having been formed with the seeds of their own dissolution now no longer exist. And we have viewed Modern States all round Europe, but find none of their Constitutions suitable to our circumstances.

In this situation of this Assembly, groping as it were in the dark to find political truth, and scarce able to distinguish it when presented to us, how has it happened, Sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly applying to the Father of lights to illuminate our understandings? In the beginning of the Contest with G. Britain, when we were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the divine protection.-Our prayers, Sir, were heard, & they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a superintending providence in our favor. To that kind providence we owe this happy opportunity of consulting in peace on the means of establishing our future national felicity. And have we now forgotten that powerful friend? or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance?

I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that “except the Lord build the House they labour in vain that build it.” I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better, than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall become a reproach and bye word down to future ages. And what is worse, mankind may hereafter from this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing Governments by Human wisdom and leave it to chance, war and conquest.

I therefore beg leave to move-that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the Clergy of this City be requested to officiate in that Service”

  5. Sabu says:

My prayers to the United States. I really loved what Obama stood for. We have to stop looking outside oursleves; and I know its not easy because the journey brings us face to face with so many of our insecurities. Whenever I’m at my most insecure, I either just want to be rich or take it out on someone else. If we only knew how to continually and with compassion face psychological death as our inner journey strips off the layers of the ego, we could stop looking outside ourselves, see that it is life giving, and wake up.

  6. Craig says:

A message we will all need to internalize. For me it boils down to a vote for hate and insanity vs. a vote for the imperfect, somewhat unethical, but basically sane. Yes, we need to be better – as Raj said there are real problems that must be fixed (inequality, influence peddling, etc.). But they will never be fixed by hate (sustained voter suppression, decades of dog whistles that became outright attacks, scapegoating the “other”). The candidates and what they stood for were not at all equivalent. One consistently brought out the worst in us and never had an uplifting or aspirational word to say. The other consistently expressed a message of unity and established detailed policies that would have helped the vast majority of people. To those who think that “bringing the system down” by putting an ignorant strongman in power, will get you what you want, is a fantasy that history and today’s world have proven over and over again.

  7. Robin Migalla says:

Thank you, Raj and Paul. I so needed to hear this. I’ve been craving a message since the 8th. So, I’m now wondering how we go about the undoing. “Election reform?” Maybe now, we can become more united for it. Our system has been usurped by the forces of mammon. We need to take it back.

  8. bob says:

an unbelievably biased “download” from God. Many of us, 60 million in fact see it totally different — in spite of all the media blather and attacks on Repubs and Trump. I am an Independent voter and am fed up with the corrupt system. So, easy to choose between which candidate would “bring the system” down and get back to a government of the people. “and to the Republic for which it stands”

this paragraph has one thing wrong with it — see parenthesis
But,—and this is the crux—one cannot afford to abandon whatever remnants of moral values still remain intact in order to make a contract with a purveyor of fear, hate, deceit, dishonesty, abuse, racism—you know the list—whose arrogance and self-confidence are so intense that his (should say HER) lack of morality appears to be an incredible freedom to work outside the system, and to do it so effectively that the actual needs will, indeed, be able to be addressed and resolved at last!

    • Gail says:

I have been an independent voter for 40 years. I could clearly see that of the two, Mr. Trump was going to bring the most harm to the largest number of Americans. Hilary was not inciting fear and was not encouraging racism. All you have to do now, Bob, is look at the people being chosen for cabinet and leadership positions by Mr.Trump: so far, an oil Barron, a white supremacist, a climate change denier…. I feel deep grief since the election because I know in my heart of hearts that no one can be lifted up by putting another down and America will never be “great again” without a concerted effort at open communication and unity, not division and close-mindedness. A Course in Miracles is a book teaching about the ego mind, the false self and how to recognize it and be free of its limitations. As Raj has pointed out, it matters what purpose you put your mind to. I have been working with A Course for decades and clearly Mr. Trump is a case study in the many ways the ego mind works. The problem is that Love is the power, not fear, not guilt. Love is never the source of manipulation. Many people have been manipulated to vote for this man through the use of fear, guilt and the promise of self worth by denigrating others. He is not going to keep his word either because manipulators say whatever they have to to get what they want. Our government needs fixing yes, but it will be fixed by electing representatives that are willing to work together for the greater good, not by putting in charge someone who just says what some people want to hear in order to get what he wants.

  9. Brendan says:

Really confused here. I get a lot of what was expressed, but in my Irish opinion they were both bad candidates and the election was completely controlled .. it’s a mess..

    • Guy Maluda says:

Please read Craig’s post above. The right wing has been attacking Hillary for years knowing that she would eventually run for President. Unfortunately they were successful in painting a normal person with faults as evil and untrustworthy. This doubt and suspicion of Clinton caused enough progressive people who are in line with her politically to stay home. Trump won due to the poor turnout, now the world will have Trump.

  10. Thank you Raj and Paul and all the Brother and Sisterhood! Love is speaking, thank God!

    • KIRK NOLEN says:

And, thank you, Anne, along with ‘all the Brother and Sisterhood’, for “having the ears to hear”, ‘Love is speaking, thank God!’

Focusing on The Truth of Love is such a Heavenly use of One’s attention; with indifference to the seemingly loud ego illusions of untruth that appear to fight, for dominance, with the confusing misdirection of separation from Our Source.

I pray in appreciation for the Peace and Love shared within All. Amen
