Speaking Up !

Dear friends,

Recently someone wrote: “Please give all of us the Gift of Giving — a Christmas message from Raj.  Surely more and more money is not the only way to give Gifts — maybe not even the best way.”

Well, very simply put, the gift that Paul and Susan keep giving, which is the sharing of the Voice for Truth — my voice — has involved “giving their life to the work” without charge, living in faith month in and month out for almost thirty-three years. To them, trust is not just a wonderful concept, it is a daily practice without a backup plan.

No matter what spiritual concepts or principles one might use to justify withholding support from those who give unstintingly, it is unwise and unintelligent. “Give me more, but my being invited to give or the presence of more money may not be the best thing.”

When making the gift, as Paul and Susan do, keeps them constantly at the threshold of an empty Foundation bank account — as is the case right now — and when it is past due on bills, can’t pay back a loan of $3,600 to Paul and Susan for keeping things going when contributions were low, and cannot afford to let Paul cash eleven paychecks because of insufficient funds — not to mention the first-of-the-month expenses — what better way than “more and more money” is there to make the Gift of Giving a more humane experience for those making the gift?

Ungrounded spirituality abandons Love — its core — and this is neither wise nor intelligent. I am speaking up on behalf of humaneness, on behalf of loving one another in ways that meet the need because the need is recognized, not overlooked in favor of platitude or principle that touches not the heart and leaves the one in need discounted, unfulfilled, unloved. Time may be an illusion, but any moment, any instant, is optimal to experience renewal — a new way of being with each other.

There is no need for wealth, but there is a need to be able to meet the obligations with ease for those who make all of this possible. Anyone who reads this message is invited to join in making the gift to everyone through your financial support. And it can be done by clicking the contribution button on the Home Page whenever you like, or by setting up an ongoing monthly contribution for whatever period of time you desire, which you can cancel at any time.

For thirty-three years this work has been a gift, supported by your gifts and those like you. My appreciation, together with Paul’s and Susan’s, constantly goes out to everyone whose hands and hearts [and dollars and cents] extend my love and make it available to all without cost.

Thank you, everyone.
