Contributions have been gratefully received and a large number of the first-of-the-month bills have been paid. Everyone’s help is still needed, however, to meet the rest of the expenses in the amount of $2,700. As always, the need is immediate. I thank those of you who responded so quickly and I am inviting everyone else to add their support to the extension of the work we are doing so that the gift might continue with ease.
“To have, give all to all,” is not just a wonderful idea or principle to think about, it is the undoing of the idea that says, “To have, buy!” It is a new way to look at things, which elicits a new way to behave. One could carelessly conclude that “either way you have to pay,” but the truth is that one way, you have to love, and the other way, you don’t.
We are opting for love. And that means that we will continue to inform when there is a need. We will amplify the meaning of “having by giving,” and illuminate the fact that it establishes the integrity and freedom of everyone, while self-protection and defense do not.
Getting is a fundamental practice which pervades relationships. But what if, instead of trying to protect yourself, you were to be involved enough with a brother to know how to protect him — to give safety instead of get safety? Such behavior would have a domino effect. If you provide safety, others don’t need to protect themselves against you. That provides you with safety, and it ripples out. The unexpected result is that the experience of brotherhood is restored.
Be willing to engage in whatever it takes to switch from getting to giving in order to have. Transaction is easier because it’s familiar, but Gift harmonizes, uplifts and promotes Awakening — Love is reflected in love.
